Office Makeover: Progress Reveal!

Reveal day is finally here! We've been talking a lot about transforming the front room of our house into a functioning office — and today, we're sharing all the details surrounding how things are shaping up. To get a sense of how the room looked before, see images along with our reasoning for transforming the space in this post — and scroll to the bottom of today's post for a look at how the space has evolved since first moving in.

Weekend Basics

If you check in with us on Instagram or Facebook, you might already have an idea that the bulk of our weekend was spent transforming the front room of our house into a functioning office:

Tim beginning to clear out the front room — goodbye yellow curtains!

You can read more about our decision for doing so, along with an inspiration board for what we have in mind in this post from last week. We ended up making solid progress on the space and can't wait to share all the details for how it's all coming together in tomorrow's post.

Fancy That!

We're back again this week, sharing all the smaller things we're into (or fancying, hence the series name) that might not fit into a single post for one reason or another. Sometimes there might be a long list of randomness, other times it might be a single gem — whatever the case, here's what we're into right now.

Office Space Needed!

We've been talking about transforming our front room into an office for quite some time now, in fact, we put it in writing as a 2014 goal for the year and we're happy to finally say we're ready to get started!

Succulent Update: Slow & Steady Wins The Race

It's hard to believe it's been over a month since our last succulent update, so we thought today would be fitting for another. Last we checked in (pic below), we had some solid roots and a new little leaf forming on one of the pods we've been trying to propagate...

Over on eHow: Spring Home Scents

Ever since experimenting with natural wintry home scents over the holidays, we've been hooked on the idea of instantly freshening up our space with little more than natural ingredients from our kitchen, pantry and garden.

An Easter Feast with Relay Foods

Weekend Basics: AKA, Eating — Things on Sticks

It was one of those weekends for us where we felt like we got so much accomplished. Everything from spring cleaning, to house projects and still time to run around left us feeling great. Friday we got to hang out with friends, chatting the night away and eating alfresco for the first time this season. We were completely enamored with our friends' new puppy, Rufus:

As any dog owners out there might have guessed, upon arriving home, we got the full sniff down from Basil, investigating every last smell of where we picked up another pup, ha. No fooling him!

Garden Update: Spring 2014

Over the weekend we tackled more garden planting around our space since the weather is finally getting to a point where we aren't worried about another frost. Today we're sharing a little spring update and "state of the garden" post for how things are coming along. It's been fun to watch older perennial plants that we put work into over the past couple of years return and give us motivation to plant new ones this season.

Recipe Roundup: Spring Eats

The tease of spring has been on my mind for the last several weeks, which inevitably means my cooking takes on the ingredients and flavors of all the season has to offer. I've been busy in the kitchen over the past several weeks and realize we don't always share the end result here on 17Apart...

Weekend Basics

Despite the rain today, I think we can officially say (and hope) that spring is finally here to stay — and boy, are we glad to be home. We spent a good part of the weekend unpacking from being in NYC, settling back around the house and spoiling this long legged friend...

Over on eHow: DIY Wine Stoppers

A few weekends ago we stopped in our local rock shop (and one of my old childhood haunts), Packard's Rocks & Stamps, to pick out a handful of natural rocks and crystals for a project we had in mind. We ended up making these sparkling crystal wine stoppers from our findings and have the full project detailed out over on eHow today (check it out here).

How To: Bunny Planters From Recycled Milk Cartons

Last week when our niece, Sophia, came to stay with us for an extended visit, I wanted to have a couple little projects we could tackle together planned out. I'd recently stumbled across and fell in love with the look of these kitty cat planters made from recycled soda bottles...

How To: Grow a Coffee Plant From Roasted Beans

Earlier this year we came across a lesser-known method for how to actually regrow coffee plants from any roasted bean using nothing more than a cotton ball, water and a little time. It was such an exciting experiment for us to try, we couldn't wait to share it here on the blog. Since we're such big fans of the Dark as Dark roasted blend from local beanery, Blanchard's Coffee, we couldn't wait to see if sprouting these beans was possible.
