An Update: Upstairs Laundry Room Progress
With baby on the way, we have a new sense of motivation to complete the laundry nook upstairs and have made some solid progress in the last few weeks, so I want to catch you up to speed with how everything is coming together!

It's Happening: Moving our Laundry Upstairs!
We've been talking about moving our laundry upstairs since moving into this house (that's 7 years of talking) and this is the year we're finally making it happen! Wow, it feels good to say that. And! After coming through a 12-week kitchen renovation over the summer, we swore up and down we were done with tearing out walls for a good while, but here we are again and I have to admit it also feels good to be back at it. Today we're sharing all the plans, what we're losing and what we'll gain throughout the process.

Before & After: DIY Wooden Letter Board
Today's post is in partnership with Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia.
We recently transformed a thrift store picture frame into a wooden letter board and have had fun using it as an added piece of decor and party prop at different gatherings we've had here at the house. It's a simple project and we can't wait to show you the before and after...

How To: Bird Nest Shadow Box Art
Over Thanksgiving, I brought back a treasured find my Aunt had given me from the land on their horse farm — this small bird's nest made almost entirely from horse hair. It made for the perfect little weekend art project!

Grateful: Coming Home
We're headed into this new year feeling optimistic and in a good place. With one of Richmond's largest snow storms in recent history behind us this weekend, Tim and I thought to ourselves — this is the first year we didn't need to worry about how the weather may have affected our second home just across the river...

Best of 17 Apart 2015
Over the past (5!) years, we've celebrated the year-end close with a look back and assembly of our most popular posts from the blog over the past year. This year was refreshing taking a look back — realizing when in a time where we felt less productive, we actually accomplished a heck of a lot. We are inherent "doers," and revisiting our 2015 projects, travel, gatherings & everyday adventures maintains that spark of motivation to continue to archive.

Over on eHow: Storage Trunk Bench & Coffee Table
Our latest project could basically be considered a small-space wonder. If you've been following along with our progress on updating the 1976 airstream that our friends, Josiah and Jocelyn, recently purchased, you'll know it's a small space that could benefit from creative, multi-purpose storage solutions.

Farmstream Updates: Painting & Backsplash
A few weeks ago we made it back out to Lockhart Family Farm to continue working on updating the 1976 airstream that our friends, Josiah and Jocelyn, recently purchased to house on the farm. It's set up as a camping-style AirBnB rental where guests can come stay on the farm through their travels.

Over on eHow: DIY Closet Door Gift Wrapping Station
We're getting on top of our organization game this holiday season, especially with the addition of this latest gift-wrapping storage system we installed along the interior closet door in Brandon's room.

Before & After: Exposing a Brick Chimney Under Plaster Walls
We've sort of been all over the place with house repairs around the upstairs of our home lately — we've been tackling a few plumbing issues, repairing wall damage in two rooms and even opened up the plaster wall in Brandon's room to expose the brick chimney hiding underneath. While we've got a lot going on, the most solid progress has taken place in Brandon's room and we're finally at a point where we share a pretty substantial "before and after" progress update for this space! As you can see from the picture above, Basil asked if he could do the honors of revealing today's makeover.

Over on eHow: Organized Vertical Storage
Over the weekend we gave the blank brick wall above my workbench in the garage an organizational makeover. With the help of a few key supplies like metal rails, hanging baskets and S hooks I've now got my frequently used tools within arm's reach and a workbench that's clutter free.

Project Airstream: Painting & Planning
This past Saturday we got a chance to make it back to Lockhart Family Farm to continue working on updating the 1976 airstream that our friends, Josiah and Jocelyn, recently purchased to house on the farm. Upon arrival we were excited to meet all the new faces around the farm — beginning with these little rare breed chicks:
Josiah and his son, Alexander, were excited to show us their new baby pigs. It was a bit of a walk down to the wooded area where they stay, so we got a chance to take in all beautiful farm sights and sounds along the way.

Over on eHow: How To Make a Magnetic Bottle Opener
I came across this really unique wall-mounting skull bottle opener while up in NYC last week and just knew I had to bring it home. We have this great spot along the wooden trellis where our grapevines grow that I thought he could peer ominously out of.

Over on eHow: DIY Chalk Paint Dresser Makeover
Remember that dated wooden dresser I helped Stephanie pick up from Craigslist a couple weekends back? Well, as you can see above, it's made quite the transformation, and we're sharing all the details in our latest project post over on eHow.

Project Airstream: Renovation Begins!
Last week we shared the beginnings of an exciting collaboration we're working on with Josiah and Jocelyn of Lockhart Family Farm. To make a long story short, they recently brought home a vintage 31' airstream camper in all of it's 1976 glory to house on the farm as both a camp classroom and airbnb glamping getaway. They kindly asked us to help with the updating process as a way to bring this vintage beauty up to the next level. We jumped at the chance and you can read up on our very first visit to see the camper in this post.
