Hola!

We're all packed up and heading out shortly for a little getaway to Mexico. Over the next week we'll be checking in from the sunny beaches of Cancun and hope to bring a little of the warm sunshine back with us from vacation when we return to RVA. If you look closely, I think the back of Tim's shoes say it all!

Recipe Roundup: Weekend Eats

It's been a busy few weeks in the kitchen and I've been cooking up a storm — realizing we don't always share all the dishes taking shape in our house here on this blog, I wanted to round up all the delicious eats from my different guest series' on Relay Foods, Lot18 and even a few from EAT for your weekend browsing.

Our Big Takeaways: Things To Think About While Planning a Wedding

To wrap up wedding week here on the blog, we wanted to put together one last post, listing out many of the afterthoughts we had post-wedding. A question that comes up frequently is — so, if you could do it all over again, knowing what you know now, what would you keep the same or do differently? So in no particular order, here are all the tips, advice, mishaps and words of wisdom that we're putting out there from our own experience!

Our Wedding Day: Party Time at The Roosevelt!

For those following along, you'll know this week we've been sharing all the details behind our wedding this past June. Yesterday we shared many of our favorite photos, moments and stories from the ceremony and today (in true Friday fashion), we are ready to get the party started! We hope you'll enjoy scrolling through more of our favorite shots and reading our memories from the reception after exchanging our vows that afternoon. Each of the photos in today's post were captured by Tori Watson, our talented wedding photographer.

We left off yesterday heading over to the reception in an old working Richmond trolley. All of our guests had already been taken for a ride on the trolleys from the ceremony site up through historic parts of Richmond to our favorite local restaurant, The Roosevelt, where we held the reception...

Our Wedding Day: Ceremony Pictorial

If you've been following along you'll know it's wedding week here on the blog! We've been sharing the events and projects leading up to the big day and today we're excited to share the final photos from our wedding day. We've been going through all of our favorite pictures from the day and there is just so much we want to share. Since we want to include so many pictures, we'll break the wedding day into two large pictorial posts. Today we're excited to give you a peek into the afternoon of our wedding as we got ready, said our vows and hopped on a Richmond trolley to capture family pictures up on Richmond's Libby Hill.

DIY Wedding Sparklers & Free Printable Sleeve Template

It's wedding week here on the blog and today we're sharing all the details behind the big exit! For our party send-off, we made heart shaped wedding sparkler kits. A sparkler exit has been a trend I've loved seeing pop up across weddings and since ours would take place during the nighttime in the city, we felt like leaving to the glow of sparklers would be fun and memorable.

Our Wedding: Rehearsal & Dinner Recap

It's wedding week here on the blog, so we're rewinding back to early summer and recounting all the events leading up to our big day. Today we're continuing where we left off yesterday, sharing some of our favorite family photos from the ceremony rehearsal and rehearsal dinner that Friday evening. As with yesterday's luncheon post, today's entry is a personal recount of the fun we had and the time we spent with family while gearing up for the big day.

Our Wedding: Bridal Luncheon Recap

This week we've been detailing out all the projects and events from our wedding in an effort to share them all with each of you, but also to create an archive of sorts for ourselves while the memories are still fresh to look back on. In today's post I wanted to share some of my favorite memories from the bridal luncheon and afternoon projects that Friday before our wedding. This is one of those posts filled with personal shots of family and friends, so I hope you enjoy reading about this special time as much as we enjoyed celebrating together.

DIY Seed Paper Save The Dates

As you know, it's wedding week here on the blog. Yesterday we set the rewind button back to our engagement, showing off several of our favorite shots from our engagement session. Today I'm excited to talk more about our save the dates, detailing out why we chose what we did and how I made them.

Our Richmond Virginia Engagement Shoot

We figured there couldn't be a better way to start out our week of wedding posts than by rewinding back to the engagement stage. Mary and I decided on a long, year+ engagement so we could take our time with the process. We announced our engagement to our families in 2011 on Christmas Eve, you can read all the details from that night and more of the story behind finding the ring in this post.

Fancy That!

We're back again this week, sharing all the smaller things we're into (or fancying, hence the series name) that might not fit into a single post for one reason or another. Sometimes there might be a long list of randomness, other times it might be a single gem — whatever the case, here's what we're into right now.

Behind The Scenes: Ledbury Valentine's Shoot

I've been excited to share more about the Valentine's Day collaboration I teamed up with Ledbury for this month. For those unfamiliar, Ledbury is a Richmond based custom menswear line started by 2 Richmond natives who were able to make a go of pursuing their creative passions right around the same time the economy took a downward spiral — definitely something we can get behind. The company and collection have been growing quickly and gaining lots of attention, which is exciting to follow.

Valentine's Pets: DIY Natural Frozen Dog Treats

In honor of Valentine's Day and our favorite four-legged family member, we pulled out the heart-shaped ice tray again this year to whip up some super simple and natural frozen treats. Peanut butter and Greek yogurt are some of Basil's favorite goodies, so we came up with this fun twist on the frosty paws recipe we like to make for him. What's great about these treats is how simple they are to make and store. They require minimal and completely natural ingredients, can be made in large batches to store in a freezer bag.

Weekend Basics

We started out the weekend with a coffee tasting at Harvest Grocery. We continue to enjoy watching this grocery store evolve with new offerings and grow into our neighborhood. Stephen Robertson of Blanchard's roasting company (one of our favorites) was in the shop tasting some of their newest blends using the pour-over brewing method...

Update: Our Money Tree, Still Making Money!

We wanted to pop in today with a little update on our money tree. For those following along, we left you hanging after I accidentally snapped off one of the branches and we hastily tried to save it by dipping it in cinnamon as a root stimulator — a tip that came from one of our readers (thanks Gin!).
