Origins Farm: Grow Different

Shopping the Origins Farm market booth

We're excited to be partnering up with Origins Farm again this year to take part in their seasonal CSA program and share delicious, fresh recipes from the farm produce here on the blog. Today we're sharing a little bit of our own experience from trying our first market CSA and spilling the beans on a special early bird discount for the 2014 Origins Farm CSA you can take part in. Learn more about our background with Origins Farm, Alistar and Rebecca's farming practices and more reasons why we love these guys in this post from last summer.

Origins Farm: Natural Cinnamon Apple Fruit Leather

It's apple season! We couldn't wait to share today's recipe for simple, natural fruit leather, using the fresh local apples sourced from Origins Farm. Fruit leather is such an easy (and delicious) way to preserve the bounty and flavor of ripening seasonal fruit. It's a healthy snack for little and big kids alike and when made naturally, can even be a special treat for your favorite four legged friends.

Origins Farm is at it again — growing different. Do you know what they had a the farmers market last week and will have again this week in limited supply? Artichokes, grown in Hanover County. Artichokes in Virginia? Well, that is what they are about and we love them for it. You can bet we'll be picking a few of our own up this Saturday morning.

Eating With Origins Farm

Today we're excited to announce the start to a new partnership we're launching this summer with Origins Farm. We've teamed up to bring you a series of summer recipes that use key ingredients from their farm produce — which you've gotten a tasty glimpse of in a few of our Weekend Basics roundups from our trips to the South of the James Farmer's Market:

For those unfamiliar, Origins Farm is a small, family-run farm in Hanover, Virginia — owned and operated by husband and wife Alistar Harris & Rebecca Ponder. How cute and fun are these two?
