Nursery Update: A Crib for Thumper

After our last ultrasound appointment, Tim came home and put our crib together in less than an hour. The minute he called me upstairs to take a look, everything felt real.

The furniture was one of the first details we'd landed on, building out the rest of the design around this crib and dresser set. They're from the Tanner Collection, made by Million Dollar Baby Classic. My sister has 4 little ones and had raved about the quality of the furniture from this brand, but it was the clean design and transitional mid-century details that stole our hearts. That and the fact that this crib is convertible 3 ways, so it will be able to grow with us into toddler phases and beyond.

The matching dresser came fully assembled except for screwing in the feet and has some solid weight to it. Just look at those leather handles (insert heart eye emoji here). I've been storing all the clothes and toys we've been collecting for baby girl in here!

I come from a big family on both sides, and in the last month have had so much fun celebrating with friends and relatives at two different baby showers. I knew it already, but our little "Thumper" is so loved and I feel beyond blessed she'll have such a strong network of women to grow up around. The pictures below show me as a baby and now, with my mother and sister.

A friend of mine recently shared this picture and quote about sisterhood that I can't stop thinking about (or tearing up over when I read). It's about female elephants and the way they come together to welcome and protect new life. I can't help but feel my elephants surrounding me — and for anyone who might need this right now, I hope you know your elephants are there rooting you on too.

Here's an honest view of how the nursery looks today — we've made progress, and still have a good ways to go. Let me tell you, my nesting instincts are kicking in hard it's been fun reimagining this little space of ours. I can't wait to finish the crib with bedding and find homes for all of the new gear baby girl will need!
