Weekend Basics

This weekend we finally finished and mailed off our save the dates (more to come on these) and even tackled a little gardening project. It's still so cold here in RVA, but we're both itching to get back out in the garden — more on what we did plant later this week. Mary's also got a mega post for the blog tomorrow detailing our trip to one of her favorite wholesale jewelry supply warehouses located in NYC.

From the Superbowl to just being us in general, it wouldn't be a 17 Apart weekend without some hearty recipes going on in the kitchen:

More to come on each of these later this week over on E.A.T.

Speaking of the Superbowl, yesterday evening we headed over to a party to catch the first half and enjoy some good food. Little did I know there would be an "oyster stout" using none other than my favorite Rappahannock River Oysters — Learn something new every day:

We got back home just in time to see the lights go out during the game.

In other exciting news, the Apartment Therapy Homies Awards are back again this year and we're excited to be named among many blogs nominated in the Home Projects & DIY blog category:

Should you have the time to spare a vote, we'd love yours for 17 Apart — click here to vote. While over there, be sure to check out the plethora of other awesome DIY focused blogs — it's a pretty amazing list and great source for new inspiration.

Basil also received a very special gift from his Gran:

She brought over an entire 4 point antler from the rivershore just for him. Just look at him trying to stay seated but going in for the stretch.

These pictures pretty well sum up how he felt about it:

Politely investigating before going for it all out. Thanks Gran!
