Over on eHow: DIY Outdoor Terra Cotta Storage Table

As we spend more time outside on these warm summer evenings, we realized we needed some additional table space to rest a cool glass of white and some citronella candles (keeping those bugs that love to bite Mary at bay). We love the look of ceramic garden stools that seem to be cropping up everywhere (like these), so decided to try our hands at fashioning one of our own using strategically stacked terra cotta planters. We love how our side table turned out and wrote up the full step by step process for how to make one of your own in our latest project post over on eHow.

As an added bonus, it even has built in storage! Our new little accent table is fitting right in and doing a great job of storing and protecting those things we'd rather leave outside, like outdoor candles, a stick lighter and so forth.

We're also sharing one of our favorite tricks for applying that naturally weathered finish on new terra cotta pots — it's super simple and your garden planters will take on that beautifully aged appeal in a matter of minutes:

We're definitely enjoying our evenings a little more out on the back patio with this welcome addition:

These patio storage tables are simple to make (err, stack), can be stacked in different ways to get different shapes, and could even be used as birdbaths and feeders when the saucer top is fitted lid-side-up. Learn how to make one of your own right here, on eHow.
