Weekend Basics: Graduation & Mother's Day

This past weekend was filled with celebrations — we watched Stephanie graduate from college, attended the dedication service for my sister's 4 children and celebrated Mother's Day. It's busy weekends like these that remind us how full our lives are with family — so much to celebrate.

We spent Saturday at JMU watching Stephanie graduate. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Health and Behavioral Studies with a degree in Psychology — and as you can probably imagine, it was a proud day for all, with many emotions.

We've got a full roundup with doting photos (more than we care to admit) from the day to share here on the blog tomorrow!

Yesterday we spent the better part of the day celebrating Mother's Day down at my mom's house on the river. It was a bright, beautiful day with lots of laughter and little children running around, keeping us all on our toes.

"Uncle Tim" stole the show with his juggling skills:

This little one even woke up to make a short appearance:

Outside of family celebrations, we even got a chance to check out one of our favorite local jazz groups, The Tommy Witten Trio, Friday night:

This trio plays old jazz standards and used to perform on the Azzurro patio, the restaurant where we first met (and had our rehearsal dinner) over 10 years ago. We hadn't seen them in years, so it was fun excuse to grab a dinner out on the patio at Ruth's Chris, listen to music and catch up with some old friends. They'll be performing the 2nd Friday of each month through the summer, so we hope to get back out again!
