Over on eHow: DIY Farmhouse Christmas Tree Stand

This time last weekend we were heading out to pick up this year's Christmas tree. We opted for a smaller 5ft tree since we've decided to position it in our family room (since fully updating the front room into an office early last year).

The smaller tree is also a perfect fit for the farmhouse style Christmas tree stand we made using a galvanized pail and clothesline hooks from the hardware store:

Weighted with marble garden rocks and complete with a watering reservoir, we love the rustic feel and functionality of the finished stand.

We crafted this DIY tree stand in collaboration with eHow for the holiday season; which you can find the full tutorial with step by step instructions for making one of your own right here.

Today both Stephanie & Brandon are coming over to watch the Steelers game (#herewego). Taking advantage of the time we've got, I've set the tree up and Mary's pulled out all of the Christmas decorations to finish while they're here since it's always more fun to do together when possible. Things are really starting to take shape around here — must mean it's time to pull out the Elvis Christmas records :)

Here's wishing a happy weekend and holiday week your way!
