It's Tree Time!
This past weekend we ventured out to choose this year's Christmas tree. We ended up bringing home a 9 footer, the largest we've ever managed to accommodate in our space — insert praise hands for the high ceilings that come with historic homes.

Our Master Bedroom Transformation: Final Reveal
Over the past year we've undergone a series of restorations and a full redesign in our master bedroom — and we couldn't be more excited to say this space is finally complete! Nov-Etsy: Our Monthly Etsy Edit | Sales Edition!
Today we've been curled up with stretchy pants on, recovering from yesterday's festivities and getting an early start on our holiday shopping — a pretty nice way to spend my big 35 if I don't say so myself (that and birthday cake).
Partaking in the excitement of post-Thanksgiving weekend sales is an annual tradition in our household and this year it's been all about avoiding the crowds and shopping small. Today we've rounded up a series of festive finds from shops participating in Etsy's cyber week event and are sharing the details on a special sale we're running in the jewelry shop now through December 1st.
Whether it be a personalized memento or an unexpected surprise, we've found gift ideas sure to please even those hard to buy for peeps. You know who you are — cheers!

Our Master Bedroom Transformation: Demo & Restoration
A few weeks back Mary shared the inspiration behind how we've been rethinking our master bedroom, which you'll see a sneak peek of in the photo below. Before we share all the photos from the transformation of the space, I wanted to detail out each of the restorative repairs that went into the process. If you are on the fence about owning a 100-year-old historic home, today's post might just help in the decision making...

Wholesale vintage lockets, CJS Sales
On our most recent trip to NYC, I stopped into one of my very favorite supply warehouses for one of a kind jewelry components, CJS Sales. This time last year I was posting about the liquidation sale in preparation for their big move — well, they've just opened the doors to a newly opened location and I couldn't wait to check out the new space.
Today I'm excited to share pics of the vintage treasures I brought back home, along with a peek into the new suite for anyone thinking about making a visit.

We recently gave the facade of our carriage house out back a quick update and boy is she looking sweet! Since updating the front of our house with a paint refresh this past autumn, we've wanted to update this back space to match.

Aug-Etsy: Our Monthly Etsy Edit
This month's Etsy Edit gives a nod to the push and pull that August inevitably brings — lingering summer heat that begs for an early autumn, a back to class (gotta get organized!) mentality, the return of football and a chance to witness this month's once in a lifetime total solar eclipse. From celestial treasures and the healing powers of salt water to tropical motifs and clever organizers, cheers to soaking in every last drop that these final days of summer have to give.

Dog Birthday Cake Recipe: Meatloaf & Veggies
Last week we celebrated Basil's 7th birthday and spoiled every last ounce of him with a homemade meatloaf cake complete with sweet potato frosting and edible toppings. This dog-friendly cake appears perfectly sweet from the outside, yet is made primarily from savory ingredients.

All About Basil: A Birthday "Pupdate"
It's hard to believe our big guy is 7 years old. His birthday was this past Friday and we've been joking all week that he's finally caught up to me (in his 50's if we calculate by human years).

DIY Cake Topper: A Graduation Hooray!
This time last month we were celebrating Brandon's college graduation with a party here at home. We hosted an informal backyard BBQ and added DIY decorations to help make the space feel a bit more festive. One of my very favorite touches was the homemade cake topper to help dress up the table.

In the spirit of sharing, every so often it's fun to round up some our latest finds — and with summer just in view, May has us ready for long weekends, outdoor time and a little more light left in the day...

Sending Out an SOS: Hunting Dog Garden Statues
Today's post is a bit of a call for assistance — in the form of, "we've looked everywhere and can't seem to uncover where a pair of these hunting dog statues can be found." No-Bake Dog Treats: Sweet Potato, Peanut Butter & Oats
These sweet little dog treats are so quick to make, come together with three completely natural ingredients (peanut butter, oats and sweet potato) and require no baking time. They take shape well in most any silicone ice mold — our go-to choice is usually hearts in honor of showing our big guy a little love!

Over on eHow: Homemade Apple Butter
Back in autumn, I brought home a bushel of apples as Mary and I set out to make this year's batches of homemade applesauce and apple butter. While both can be found in the grocery store I fondly remember both versions of my grandmothers. Who knew how surprisingly simple they are to make at home using only a handful of natural ingredients?
