RVA Eats: Secret Sandwich Society

A few weekends ago, we had a chance to stop in the newly opened Secret Sandwich Society down on East Grace Street. I'd heard good things and seen even better snaps from friends who'd already stopped in so we were eager to check it out...

The space itself is open and modern — Mary immediately began talking kitchen envy with the bright carrera bar, leather barstools and brass beer taps.

She went with a crispy chicken sandwich with honey butter and house made pickles, I opted for the burger with jalapeños and a fried egg and as if our southern roots were jumping for joy, we both couldn't pass up a chance to try the loaded fries — pimento cheese, jalapeños and bacon, yes please!

As an added bonus, Secret Sandwich Society uses sustainable ingredients and operates under 100% wind powered facilities as a way to be mindful of the environment.

All in all, SSS will go down as one to return to and in general, we're excited to see so many new Richmond eats popping up around town. Over the holidays we're also hoping to get by a few more new spots that we have simply not gotten to — Wong Gonzales, Rapp Session, Southbound and Shag Bark to name a few.

How about you? Which new spots have you tried and where else should be adding to the must-try list?
