Weekend Basics

My sister with her newest baby.

Today we're checking from NYC where we'll be spending the majority of this week, and it's been quite the busy past few days. As you know from our posts this past week, we've had lots of little visitors in our lives lately. With the arrival of our newest niece, we got a chance to spend some time with the other children, keep Sophia overnight and snag some more shots of the new baby.

We had all sorts of fun with Sophia, who kept us on our toes in all of her almost 3 year old spunk. We explored the Children's Museum, did a little craft project (more on that later this week) and even had time to stop by the hardware store to pick out some plants:

Friday we participated in the Richmond Food Co-op's Love Your Co-op Fundraiser:

It was a fun chance to get out on a Friday night, hang out down at Gallery 5 and even bid on a few locally made goods in the silent auction, like those amazing handmade birdhouses. We loved the airstream camper birdhouse made from scrap metal but got outbid in the final moments of the fundraiser.

This weekend was also the Monument Avenue 10k — an event in our neighborhood we've loved watching from the sidelines over the past 3 years and something we even aspired to sign up to participate in this year when setting goals back in January. We didn't end up walking the course ourselves this year like we'd hoped since the timing coincided with our travel plans for NYC this week. We're bummed we didn't participate, but aren't sad we missed walking in the rain and are looking for other upcoming neighborhood 5k's we might be able to take part in this year instead. You can check out snaps from our fun watching the 10k from the sidelines last year and the year before. Also — if you have any favorite local neighborhood walk/runs we should know about, we'd love to learn more!

The rest of our weekend was spent NYC bound for the week ahead. Yesterday we brunched at Marlow & Sons, strolled through the indoor Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg market, and hunkered down the rest of the rainy day to get ahead on the workweek.

In terms of March Madness brackets, Tim's chances were wrecked when Arizona lost to Wisconsin in overtime. Womp womp... such is March Madness — there's always next year!

How was your weekend? Did you make any trips or cross any projects off the list?
